As a photographer you should know that different subjects may have different appeal to people. Taking quality pictures of animals needs a lot of skill and patience. The solution to that would be having an ample time to learn the right way of animal photography. Patience in learning, your dog and waiting for the right time for quality pictures is basically what you need.
A different approach to the subject is needed, simply because your pets are moving and you need to make it still in pictures. The right time and the right angle are much needed to capture the wonderful moments of your dog.
Getting the attention of your subject is important to keep them in place. A toy or an object that interest your dog would be a great idea to keep him standing in place. You can have them play with a ball first. Always remember that taking pictures of your pets happy moments will make your photos more colorful and memorable. The most important factor in pet photography is the right angle and the proper timing on taking a shot of that angle. Having the right angle and timing is not enough without you having positioned right for the pose or shot that you are waiting for. You might be thinking that it might be pure luck to be able to take a quality picture of your pet, but that belief is entirely wrong. As the owner of the subject you will know the right poses through understanding your pet and observing how he or she moves. Yes, it may be difficult to deal with since it is really difficult to control your subject, but the satisfaction that you get after taking the best quality shots of your pet is fulfilling. Always remember that the best comes out from “Patience".
Observation of your pets’ routine and knowing his actions would be a good thing to do to look for things that drive your interests. This way, it would be a lot easier for you to understand when he acts and to anticipate his moves so for you to have the right position and the right angle at the right time. If you are not successful, you can take pictures during the time when your dog is still - that is when he is asleep. A good spot with ample lighting is good enough for you to take shots without using the camera flash, so as not distract your pet. Also, limit the noise when taking a shot of your subject while having a good, undisturbed sleep. Follow this by heart and I can assure you that the results can be cute and fulfilling.
